  • Learned to Kite: I started kitesurfing in the winter of 2000 with Jeff Pottinger and we both loved it enough to invest our hard earned money into kites and boards. The two of us were returning to Portland from an un-pleasant training session at the beach that we or more to the point I busted Jeff's Kite, when we passed by some guy out kiting at North Beach. Well, fascinated that we were not the only two guys in the area into this sport and the fact that whoever was out there actually knew how to ride we quickly stomped on the brakes and headed in his direction. When we got there we were amazed at how totally awesome this guy was. He was not only not crashing, but he was getting air and riding away from the landings. We decided to wait for him to finish riding and introduce ourselves. When the master of the wind finished riding we were very eager to help him land his kite and show how knowledgeable we were about this sport. We expertly landed his kite and introduced ourselves to the one and only Jeff Howard. Not only was this guy an amazing rider but he was about as cool as you can be about two kooks coming up to you out of nowhere. We told our tale of misfortune in regards to the Kite I smashed earlier and he said he could fix it, and not only that be it was cheap. Needless to say we were hooked from the first day but after meeting Jeff H. we knew we were in for life.

Hey man, love the video. Good times. We are leaving the Surf Expo super early Sunday morning so I don't know if its worth coming down to Orlando just for Saturday. Howizard is planning a trip to Turks & Caicos on Nov 8th? to do a photo shoot for the Crazyfly catalogue. So far its Rocky, Todd and I so see if you can get some time off then. I'll confirm the dates soon.

WKC East Headquarters Identified

The Headquarters of the WKC East has been identified. I Placed an offer on a house and it was accepted. It just happens to be about a quarter of a mile away from the Bay so I will be able to get on and off the water fast and often. More info and room availability will come soon.

On the East Coast

Well I have arrived on the East Coast (Norfolk, Va). I am currently looking for a house which is turning out to be a daunting task here. It seems that for every nice neighborhood I find there are 5, well to put it nicely, Undesirable neighborhoods. I am just tarting to get the WKC East site started so don't look for too much info there yet. I will keep you posted. I wish I was there on the south coast ripping it up but at least I get to spread the WKC mission by being here. Hope to see you on the water.
